Rheumatoid Arthritis And Work Ability

Rheumatoid can affect your ability to work. Especially if you are currently having a flare-up or if you are not currently on any treatment for it.

As R.A. affects your smaller joints you might end up having difficulties using your hands and even walking might become very painful.

It is also important to remember that even when you are not having a flare-up or a current inflammation you need to take it easy on your joints as you do not want to cause any more trauma to them than they are already going through.

Can You Work With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Being able to work with R.A. depends on the kind of work that you are doing and also the current state of your R.A. I have had days where I have not been able to work as I could barely walk and just taking a shower was torment, I was however very lucky to have an employer than understood.

I have had both very mentally straining jobs and very physical jobs, this all depends on your current state, as I mentioned before.

My joints are currently in one of the best states that they have ever been but for the last 2 years I have been working pretty much only from home, with my own business.

Because when it comes to R.A. it is not only your joints that are causing an issue, it is also the fatigue. My joints can feel fine but I can be exhausted.

You need to fins something that will allow for you to take the time you need to regain your energy.

Rheumatoid Arthritis And Employment

I have never had issues with working but I have never told an employer about my R.A. as I always try to not let it affect my work, however sometimes it can be difficult.

Depending on your state it can be beneficial in letting your employer know about your R.A. as they might have a better understanding for you and if you are experiencing some difficulties.

Remember not to take on too much as you do not want to hurt your body more, you want to keep your joints as healthy as possible.

Work From Home With Rheumatoid Arthritis

The thing that has truly saved me has been working from home because I am able to work on my own terms. If I am tired or exhausted then I do take the time off to just regain my energy.

I am the only person who understands what I am going through so it has been a very good experience being my own boss.

I started my online business and it has been the best for me as I know I will benefit from it even more as time goes on.

Jobs Working From Home

So what can you work with from home that will not put too much stress on your joints?

  • Proof reading
  • Blogging – perhaps about your experiences with R.A.
  • Podcast
  • Make Videos
  • Affiliate Marketing

None of these will hurt your joints and most of them do not really require for you to over use them either.

I started with affiliate marketing and I cannot even express how much it has helped me. I am able to work from home and not feel stressed or forced to go into work if I would feel exhausted or in pain.

I knew nothing about this previously so I joined a online community called Wealthy Affiliate, where you get training in affiliate marketing. I love the fact that I can sit on my couch, working and making money and that it actually didn’t cost me anything.

And if I would be in pain I would just use the speech feature and I would be able to work anyways.

Final Thoughts

Knowing how much working from home has been able to help me and most importantly it has helped me not just with an income but I can relax in a different way knowing that I will be fine if I do not go to work. I just want others with the issues as myself to be able to have a different future, hopefully with financial freedom where you do not need to worry about not being able to go to work, getting a job or that your pension might not be enough.
